Terms and conditions
The basis on which Stret Limited quotes for and carries out work. Anything agreed in writing for your specific job sits on top of this.
Last updated: September 2026
1. Who you're contracting with
Stret Limited, formerly trading as Stretton Electrical, of 88B Springhill Road, Burntwood, Staffordshire, WS7 4UJ. Contact: 07812 971397, info@stret.co.uk.
2. Quotes and pricing
We price work on day rates, and those rates vary with the operatives and plant a job needs. That's why we don't publish prices or "from" figures. You'll be given a price for your specific job before work starts. Quotes are based on the information and access available at the time; where something can only be established once work is opened up, we'll say so in the quote.
3. Deposits and payment
On some jobs we ask for 25% up front; on others we don't. Whether a deposit applies is agreed with you before anything starts. The balance is payable on completion of the work, or at agreed stages on longer projects, in line with the invoice.
4. Variations and unforeseen work
Buried services, ground that isn't what the surface suggested, and pre-existing electrical faults found during testing are all things that can change the scope of a job. Where that happens we stop, tell you what we've found, and agree the additional work and cost with you before continuing.
5. Access and site conditions
You agree to give us reasonable access to the property on the agreed dates, along with the water and power supplies a job needs. Please tell us about anything that affects safe working, asbestos, unstable structures, aggressive animals, restricted parking. Where access is prevented and a day is lost, that day may be chargeable.
6. Standards, certification and notification
Electrical work is carried out to current wiring regulations, tested, certified, and notified through NAPIT where notification is required. Air conditioning work involving refrigerant is carried out under F-Gas certification. Where a job requires Building Control or planning consent, obtaining it is the property owner's responsibility unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
7. Guarantee
1-year guarantee on all work, applied the same way across every trade we cover, running from the date the work is completed. It covers our workmanship. It doesn't cover fair wear and tear, damage or interference by others, alterations made by someone else, faults in parts of the installation we didn't work on, or work we advised should be done and you chose not to have done. Manufacturer warranties on equipment are separate and passed to you. Tell us about a problem as soon as you notice it and we'll come back and look at it.
8. Insurance and liability
We hold £5 million public liability, £10 million employer's liability and £250,000 professional indemnity cover. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Otherwise our liability is limited to putting right the work we carried out, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss such as loss of income.
9. Cancellation
If you're a consumer who agreed the work away from our premises, you have 14 days to cancel. If you've asked us to start within that period and we have, you'll be charged for what's been done. Otherwise, please give as much notice as you can if dates need to move; materials already ordered specifically for your job may be chargeable.
10. Complaints and governing law
Call 07812 971397 or email info@stret.co.uk and we'll look into it, most things are quicker to sort out by phone. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
