The story
From apprentice at 16 to running the business
Sam Stretton started in the construction industry at 16 with an electrical apprenticeship. He then worked for his father's company, ending up running it until his father retired, and in that time he looked after all aspects of the work: electrical, groundworks and construction.
In August 2024, at 29, he started this business on his own. It traded as Stretton Electrical to begin with, because electrical work was the bulk of it.
As groundworks contracts and broader construction work came in, that name stopped describing the business. It was renamed Stret Limited so the name reflected the fact that it now covers a bit of everything rather than electrical only. Same owner, same phone number, wider range of work.
Today Sam works with several operatives across the trades, all of whom hold current CSCS or ECS cards, from a base on Springhill Road in Burntwood.
Who we help
Homeowners with wiring that's past it, landlords who need a condition report that stands up, buyers who want to know what they're taking on, and people building an extension who'd rather not project-manage four separate firms.
We also work for commercial customers and on site alongside other trades, where the useful part is that ducting, supplies and drainage can be planned into the dig instead of chased afterwards.
What we specialise in
Electrical work and groundworks are the two trades we lead with and do most days. Air conditioning and building work we take on occasionally, usually where we're already on the job. We'd rather say that plainly than present four trades as equally weighted.

“I started the business in August 2024 at the age of 29. I've worked in the construction industry since I was 16, doing an electrical apprenticeship. I then worked for my dad's company, running it until he retired, but I looked after all aspects of electrical, groundworks and construction.”

Mission and standards
Do the job properly, then prove it was done properly
Most of what goes wrong on domestic work isn't skill, it's corners cut where nobody will look, and nobody being told about it. Our standards exist to close both gaps.
How we work
- Every electrical job inspected, tested and certified before it's handed back
- Notifiable electrical work registered through NAPIT rather than left with you
- Levels, falls and compaction set out and checked before the digger starts
- Refrigerant work carried out under F-Gas certification, never worked around
- Price agreed for your specific job before anything starts, no surprise extras
- Any deposit (25% on some jobs) agreed up front, or not taken at all
- Everyone on your property holds a current CSCS or ECS card
- One year's guarantee on the work, whichever trade did it
The guarantee
1-year guarantee on all work. It works the same way whichever trade carried out the job, there isn't a longer guarantee on one service and a shorter one on another.
Pricing is on day rates, and those rates vary with the operatives a job needs, which is why you won't find "from" prices anywhere on this site. Sam prices your specific job and tells you the figure before anyone starts.
On some jobs we ask for 25% up front; on plenty we don't. Either way it's agreed with you in advance.
